Enrollment is open for the International Counseling Coordinator specialization at Faculdade de Campinas (FACAMP). The 18-month, online program aims to reach educational professionals across Brazil, such as teachers, pedagogical coordinators, and school administrators as well as those seeking specialization in the field of educational counseling to work as counselors. The program examines the growing movement to internationalize basic education, and focuses on training educators to support students interested in increasingly globalized higher education opportunities within and beyond Brazil's borders.
The course will be valid as a postgraduate course in Brazil and as a counselor training course accredited in the USA and Europe for the accreditation of counselors representing international schools.
In March, I had the opportunity to attend the kickoff of the program at the first International Education Summit hosted by FACAMP and Effigie Academy. Dean of FACAMP, Rodrigo Sabbatini, kicked off the event by presenting the range of programs taught in portuguese and English, and their diversified entry pathways that include the vestibular, ENEM, or alternatively an SAT and interview for students coming from IB Diploma programs.
Lara Crivelaro, of Effigie Academy and author of A Educação no Palco Internacional, spoke about how educators are "the mentors of global competencies," and reinforced the importance of multiculturalism in education.
Nicole Ribeiro, also of Effigie Academy and FACAMP, shared her expertise on specific issues, including costs and return on investment, students and families face when weighing higher education options in Brazil and abroad.
Educators from more than 40 Brazilian high schools came to the event. The International Counseling Coordinator specialization begins in April 2024.
